Sell As Is or Invest More?

Sell As-Is or Invest More?

In our current market I say, “Invest More” and maximize your profits even more by updating
and creating an outstanding first impression. Most buyers want turnkey home.

What happens – or doesn't – between the street and the front of your home is curb appeal.
It makes or breaks the potential buyer's first impression. It's that important! A buyer may just
drive by without an impressive entrance and front door.

The area around your front door is considered the focal point of the home. While they may not be conscious of it, this area will be the potential buyers' first impression from the outside. Be sure to match the landscaping to the home’s architecture and have outdoor lighting.  As an example, a cottage garden may be a perfect choice for cape style home.  A more modern home may look best with more hardscapes, such as the slate walkways lined with shaped hedges of boxwood or rosemary. There is a lot to consider when it comes to landscaping for curb appeal, now let’s go inside.

Before you list your home to sell, or do anything inside, declutter, clean, clean and clean again. Here’s a few must do suggestions for the inside of your home.

Update the home with a fresh coat of paint.
Replace outlets and light fixtures, consider smart features.
Replace outdated appliances, buyers love new!

Scrub your kitchens cabinets, consider adding new countertops and/or updating the hardware.
Scrub your bathrooms, consider updating vanities and accessories.

Make the home bright, change light bulbs and update your lighting fixtures.
Clean all the windows and mirrors inside and out.

Spring officially arrived and it's always nice to watch the world wake up from the winter mess. Spring is always a good time to “clean up” even if you are not considering selling. Our economy and market often leave us with what feels like a million questions. I always recommend working with professionals when preparing your home for the market to sell. What's in store for your family this spring? Know that I'm here for you and you can call me any time. If I don't have immediate answers, I'll get them for you. Being the best real estate resource possible for my community is my goal.
