A Thriving Garden Starts with Soil

Once you have established your spring garden design, it’s time to prepare your soil. This helps your plants not only grow but thrive. Compacted soil will cause difficulties as you try to establish your new spring garden.

Using a spade or shovel dig deep into the soil flipping it over well past last year’s composted layers and mix them together. Do this throughout your entire garden, breaking up any large clumps of compacted soil.

Add a new layer of organic garden soil for vegetables fused with nutrients, peat moss to help the soil better absorb and hold water and perlite which is a natural filtration system which allows excess water to drain while holding moisture.  Mix up this mixture completely and spread throughout your garden space, rake it level and water your soil thoroughly.  I use the same combination for my flower gardens only I use organic garden soil for flower gardens.

Your garden is ready for spring with the nutrition and filtration it needs to thrive.  A good gardener knows that a lot must go into helping your garden thrive.  Everything grows better with love.

Let's garden together, I'm rooting for you.  LeeAnn
