The Perfect Pie, The Perfect Home: From Farm to Front Door

The Perfect Pie, The Perfect Home: From Farm to Front Door

Living on the farm is wholesome living with golden warm sunrises to peach juice running down your fingers as you prepare fillings to bake homemade pies for the local farmer’s market. Life on a farm like real estate operates according to a consistent routine: tending to the animals, preparing fruit for pies, and skillfully assembling lattice crusts, all while appreciating the unique aspects of my REALTOR® life. Lets make the perfect pie together, find the perfect home from my farm to your front door.

Farm Life and Real Estate Go Hand in Hand

In between farm chores, I’m out in the community showing homes. Helping families achieve their real estate goals. Just like on the farm, real estate has its own seasons timing, preparation, and care make all the difference. Whether it’s finding the right kitchen for your family dinners or the backyard big enough for a garden, kids, pets and chickens. I love helping people find a home that feels just right like my home does.

It’s All About Instinct and Heart

When I make homemade pies, I go by feel and smell. The dough tells you when it’s ready by its texture. When a fresh-baked pie is ready the smell fills the kitchen with sweet aroma. That smell signifies a promise of gathering, sharing, and home.

And in Real Estate, The Same

Whether you're buying or selling, there’s a gut feeling you get when you walk into the right home. My job is to guide you there with care, patience, and a lot of wisdom earned from years of being in business, long farm days and countless pie crusts.

Every Pie Has a Personality and So Do Homes

·       Some people are classic apple pie: timeless, full of tradition, and happiest in a cozy Cape or colonial.

·       Others are blueberry peach pie with crumb topping: a little unexpected, sweet with a hint of adventure. Hello modern farmhouse with room to roam.

·       And some? Cherry with lattice crust. Bold, beautiful and absolutely looking for a big kitchen and space to entertain.

What kind of pie are you? Seriously, think about it. Then let’s find the home that matches.

Tips for Buyers and Sellers

Buyers:

  • Inventory often picks up after summer vacations.
  • End of Summer is a great time to look!
  • Think ahead, where do you want to be for the holidays? Let’s start now.
  • In addition, some sellers may be more motivated in the fall right before the holidays.

Sellers:

  • Late summer listings stand out. Fewer homes have more eyes on yours.
  • Curb appeal matters, always keep lawns fresh, porches swept, and flowers blooming.
  • Here’s a farmhouse staging tip, the aroma of a fresh homemade baked pie that hits a buyer when they open the front door.

Bring Some Farm to your Kitchen - Homemade Peach Pie with Crumb Topping

Ingredients
For the pie filling:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 5–6 cups peaches, peeled and sliced (jar peaches work also)
    (about 6–7 medium peaches)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour (or cornstarch if you like it silkier)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice

For the crumb topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Egg Wash:       Scramble an egg and mix with a little water (set aside, optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place oven rack in the center.
  2. Prepared peaches: In a large bowl, toss peaches with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and lemon juice. Let it sit for 10 minutes to get juicy.
  3. Make crumb topping: In a medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or a fork until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Assemble the pie: Place the unbaked crust in a pie pan. Brush your egg wash all along the pie crust with a pastry brush. Pour in peach filling and spread evenly. Sprinkle crumb topping over the peaches.
  5. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
  6. Cool for at least 2 hours before slicing (the filling will set as it cools).
  7. Refrigerate once cooled.

Serve warm or at room temperature. It’s delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.

Happy baking and welcome home, LeeAnn
